After 6 years of estrangement between Israel and Turkey, Deputy Turkish PM has announced that he expects to visit Israel soon.

In the wake of Turkey's ratification of a reconciliation deal with Israel, Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister, Mehmet Simsek, has announced that he is set on visiting Israel soon.

"The reconciliation agreement with Israel is good for Turkey and for the entire region. I expect to visit Israel during my next round of international visits," Simsek wrote, following the approval of the agreement in the Turkish Parliament.

The agreement calls on Israel to pay Turkey 20 million dollars over the course of the next 25 days as compensation for the 2010 "Mavi Marmara Incident" as a condition for re-normalization of relations.

As a result of the agreement, Israel and Turkey are expected to re-exchange ambassadors in the near future.

In 2010, IDF soldiers boarded the Turkish "Mavi Marmara" flotilla headed for Gaza under pretext of providing humanitarian aid, when they were violently attacked by the Islamist extremists on board with clubs and knives.

The IDF soldiers had no choice but to defend themselves, which resulted in the deaths of 10 on board the ship.

Following the incident, Turkey withdrew the Turkish ambassador to Israel.
