Chinese flotilla in Bering Sea off Alaska - Thomas Lifson

by Thomas Lifson

Five Chinese navy ships are currently operating in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska, Pentagon officials said Wednesday, marking the first time the U.S. military has seen them in the area.

Welcome to the new post-Obama world power structure, in which the United States is no longer the dominant world power. Jeremy Page and Gordon Lubold report in the Wall Street Journal:
Five Chinese navy ships are currently operating in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska, Pentagon officials said Wednesday, marking the first time the U.S. military has seen them in the area.
The officials have been tracking the movements in recent days of three Chinese combat ships, a replenishment vessel and an amphibious landing ship after observing them moving toward the Aleutian Islands, which are split between U.S. and Russian control.
“This would be a first in the vicinity of the Aleutian Islands,” one defense official said of the Chinese ships, which have been operating in international waters. “I don’t think we’d characterize anything they’re doing as threatening,” the official said.
Right. Nothing threatening about an amphibious landing craft and support vessels. Nothing right now, at least. The Chinese are not going to invade and seize land, they are just practicing for it. Off Alaska.

Weakness is provocative, and President Obama is projecting  weakness. We will continue to own Alaska, all right. As long as we can hold onto it.

So cut that military budget and keep the Navy at the lowest number of ships in a century. Nothing to worry about at all. Except for China, Russia, and everyone else who sees a weak America. But don't worry; our news [sic] transgendered armed forces will have enemies doubled up in laughter.
