Border Patrol Council Calls for Holder's Resignation

by M Catharine Evans

During a hearing last week Attorney General Holder said he had no intention of resigning over Operation Fast and Furious.

Now the National Border Patrol Council which represents all 17,000 nonsupervisory agents has called for Holder to do just that.

Council President George E. McCubbin III, a 25-year Border Patrol veteran, did not mince words when it came to Holder's dishonorable, dishonest and corrupt actions over the last 16 months.

McCubbins described Holder's arrogant flouting of the law as a "slap in the face to all Border Patrol agents who serve this country," and said the "AG has demonstrated an utter failure of leadership at the highest levels of government." The council president added integrity is the agent's "most important trait and that without it they have little use to the agency."

He said if an agent lies or violates his oath he is swiftly reprimanded and/or dismissed. McCubbins continued:

The standard that applies to these agents should at a minimum be applied to those who lead them...If Eric Holder were a Border Patrol agent and not the attorney general, he would have long ago been found unsuitable for government employment and terminated.

It is time for Attorney General Holder to show the least shred of responsibility and leadership and resign his post...Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry deserves nothing less.

Agents Terry and Zapata and the hundreds of murdered Mexican citizens are speaking through 17,000 agents. Will Rep. Issa listen up and charge Holder? We should know more tomorrow after Holder, who requested a special meeting, talks with the congressman.

In an article from The American Spectator by W. James Antle, III, regarding the possibility the meeting will stave off a contempt vote against Holder, the writer suggests his readers have a handle on what will transpire:

TAS readers aren't very optimistic that Holder will comply or that congressional Republicans will hold him accountable.

I'll second that.

I wish both parties in DC would just pay attention to American citizens who have the right to hold a non-law abiding Attorney General accountable.
