The Frightening Real Goals of an Invented People

by Ethel C. Fenig

Yes, as Newt Gingrich said, acknowledging the elephant in the room, the Palestinians are an invented people. And yes, as Barry Rubin and Rick Moran acknowledged that's not as important as

What's important is whether a large portion of the people in question believes that they are a people. (Rubin)

I know what Newt was getting at - that there has never been a "Palestinian state" nor were the Arab people referred to who lived in the British protectorate until Israeli independence called "Palestinians" exclusively. But Dr. Rubin has nailed it; it doesn't matter what we think as much as what the Palestinians themselves believe.

You must deal with the world as it is, not as we would like it to be. (Moran)

So now, let's take the above information, "the world as it is" a step further and ask why the leaders of the Muslim Arabs invented the mythical Palestinian people? Answering in 1977 is expert Zuheir Mohsen, described in Wikipedia as

a Palestinian leader of the pro-Syria as-Sa'iqa faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) between 1971 and 1979. Previously active as a refugee in the Jordanian wing of the Baath Party, he was chosen for this position after defense minister Hafiz al-Assad's 1969-1970 takeover in Syria, which he had supported against the previously dominant regime of Salah Jadid. Mohsen was also a member of the National Command of the Syrian-based Baath Party.

Given that background he should know. (Well, he was assassinated in 1979 but his bluntness on the issue is still valid.)

As such, he stated that there were "no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese", though Palestinian identity would be emphasised for political reasons. This originated in a March 1977 interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw:[5]

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.

So a people were invented as "only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity." And now that this is clear, what does this do to the continued babble about peace between Israel and some sort of "Palestine" bordering Israel where the two states are supposed to "exist side by side in peace" after they get to Leon Panetta's damned peace table to sign a worthless peace treaty paper? Exactly. No peace with Israel.

Certainly the rulers of the independent Hashemite kingdom of Jordan, whose population is majority artificial, invented Palestinians, have noted Mohsen's future goal for Jordan--"the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan." So, the artificial Palestinians will not only not live side by side in peace with Israel; on their other side they will not live side by side in peace with their fellow Muslim country, Jordan.

In other words, not only do the invented, artificial Palestinians intend to eliminate Jewish Israel they also hope to wipe out Muslim Jordan, all replaced with an elusive pan Arab invented, artificial country of Palestine.

That is the reality to be dealt with for as Moran summarized "You must deal with the world as it is, not as we would like it to be."

And that is not invented.
